Another Talented Surgeon Joins Our Team: Introducing Dr. Diego Pereira

A Solid Foundation in Surgical Training

Dr. Pereira began his journey with us in 2023 after completing a fellowship under the guidance of Dr. Jamil Ahmad. His training reflects the Clinic’s standard for achieving natural-looking results. Prior to joining our team, Dr. Pereira received his MD from the University of Sao Paulo, School of Medicine, in Brazil—a country renowned for innovations in cosmetic surgery. He then completed a general surgery residency and a dedicated three-year Plastic Surgery Residency program while simultaneously pursuing an MBA.

Extensive Clinical Experience

Since joining our team, Dr. Pereira has contributed to a variety of procedures including:

• Breast surgeries
• Liposuction and fat transfers
• Abdominoplasties

His work is not limited to aesthetic procedures; Dr. Pereira has also built expertise in post-breast surgery recovery and breast reconstruction.

Dr. Pereira’s academic credentials are impressive. His commitment to advancing plastic surgery is evidenced by:

• Awards for “Best Performance in the Surgical Disciplines”
• Recognitions from the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery for his research
• Best Research Project awards for his work on lymphatic reconstruction and surgical reporting during his time at the University of Ottawa

His research, which has been published in reputable journals and presented at national and international conferences, focuses on innovative techniques, quality surgical outcomes, and enhanced post-operative healing. Dr. Pereira collaborates with esteemed colleagues, including Drs. Lista, Ahmad, and Austin, to push the boundaries of aesthetic plastic surgery.

Leadership and Advocacy

Dr. Pereira’s leadership experience includes:

• Serving as Chief Resident in 2021 following his role as a resident representative in the plastic surgery residency program
• Active involvement in patient and healthcare provider advocacy, where his background in business administration complements his medical expertise

His participation in a winter exchange at the Schulich School of Business further enriched his understanding of healthcare management and reinforced his dedication to patient-centered care.

Throughout his career, Dr. Pereira has built strong connections across hospital networks, working as a clinical associate at both the University Health Network (UHN) and St. Michael’s Hospital. These relationships ensure that his future patients receive comprehensive support and access to a wide range of resources.
